<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display element suitable for true/false determination, allowing visible/invisible display at a low-cost with a simple device configuration, and to provide a card using it. <P>SOLUTION: In this display element applying an electric field to between electrodes facing to each other, and forming an image by a reversible change of a light transmittance of a substance between the electrodes, the electric field application to the display element is a non-contact system by electromagnetic induction or electromagnetic coupling, the electrodes facing to each other comprise a pair of electrodes, an observation side surface of the display element has a mask layer making the display invisible, a latent image is formed by partially destroying the mask layer, and the latent image is made to be visible or invisible by presence/absence of the electric field application. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
