PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head slider capable of controlling a flying height at high speed and suited to mass production. SOLUTION: The magnetic head slider includes a slider substrate 11 having a surface facing a magnetic disk 90 and a leading end surface vertical to the facing surface, a magnetic head element 32 formed on the leading end surface side of the slider substrate 11 to write/read information in/from the magnetic disk 90, and an actuator 18 formed between the slider substrate 11 and the magnetic head 33.
