PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine for fitting and removing wheel tires, ensuring a correct and easy removal of the tires, and allowing a more simple structure and operation. SOLUTION: This machine includes a structure for supporting a wheel rim clamping/rotating means, and an operating unit having an operating head movably connected to the structure. The head has a removal tool connected to a first actuator, and is turnable between a first position with the tool tilted toward the rotation axis of the rim and a second position with the tool extended in a direction parallel to the rotation axis. The unit is provided with: a second actuator; and a transformation means for transforming movement generated by the second actuator into the sideways movement of the head along a curved direction between a first structure, in which the head is near to a section of the annular flange of the rim housing the partial section of a bead, and a second structure, in which the head is away from the section of the flange.
