PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressing metallic material mounted on a small cap of an oven cover to guide a leveling rod for leveling coal piled in a coke oven, a thermal insulation plate, a slide base plate on which a main body seal plate and a dislocation preventing metallic material are fitted, an improved packing comprising ceramic fiber felt and a method of fitting the members. SOLUTION: The thermal insulation plate pressing metallic material fitted to the small cap mounted on the oven cover of the coke oven has such a structure that four members of a pressing plate A provided with 2 or more bolt holes or a T-shaped pressing plate A' having a protective plate fixed to a position shifted upward from the upper surface of the pressing plate A; a pressing plate B provided with 2 or more bolt holes; a pressing plate C provided with 2 or more bolt holes; and a pressing plate D provided with 2 or more bolt holes are assembled so that the pressing plate C and the pressing plate D are welded and fixed to both ends of the pressing plate A or the pressing plate A' respectively to form a gate shape and the gate shape is formed into a square shape by the pressing plate B.
