A semiconductive conjugated polymer comprising a first repeat unit comprising general formula I: where Arl, Ar3, and Ar5 are the same or different and wherein each represents an optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl group; Ar2 and Ar4 are the same or different and each represent a substituted aryl or heteroaryl group; and Ar2 and Ar4 sterically interact with one another so as to cause an increase in the bandgap of the polymer.
