A liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent the air bubbles from being generated, effectively in a low-temperature environment without damaging the degree of freedom of layout. A liquid crystal display device(10) comprises A liquid crystal layer(3), the first substrate(1), the second substrate(2) a plurality of column-shaped spacers. The first and second substrates face each other through the liquid crystal layer. The column-shaped spacers maintain the interval between the first and second substrates and have the same height. Within a surface of one of the substrates, a concave part(7) is installed at one of portions which the first and second column-shaped spacers are arranged.
