<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the technique of a broad utility without degrading a processing performance, in a data compression used for a run-length compressing method. <P>SOLUTION: An image compression apparatus is equipped with a pixel-density data retaining circuit; a data retaining circuit on numbers of times; a first encoding circuit to read out for encoding pixel-density data, and to output a pixel-density data code when the pixel-density data are retained in a pixel-density data retaining circuit; a second encoding circuit to read out for encoding data on numbers of times, and to output a data code on numbers of times when data on numbers of times are retained in the data retaining circuit on numbers of times; an outputting circuit to input the pixel-density data code and the data code on numbers of times, and to output them as compressed data; and a data combination circuit to combine a predetermined data code on numbers of times with the pixel-density data code, so as to make the bit numbers of the compressed data less than the outputting bus width of the outputting circuit, when the data are written in the pixel-density data retaining circuit and the data retaining circuit on the numbers of times at the same clock timing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
