摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a vitrified grinding wheel as a fixed plate for reducing the number of processes, labor, time to start sphere polishing, and for machining it at best polishing capability. SOLUTION: A sphere polishing mechanism comprising the fixed plate and a rotary plate is used. Into a cutout 9 of the vitrified grinding wheel 10 having the cutout 9 used as the fixed plate and on which a groove is not formed, a fitting member 14 is fitted to constitute a plate shape, or the plate-shaped vitrified grinding wheel is attached to a rotary side as the rotary plate. A cast plate provided with a prescribed cutout and groove is attached to a fixed side. A spherical body with prescribed dimensions is pressurized and nipped between polishing surfaces opposing each other and the rotary side is axially rotated relative to the fixed side for polishing the spherical body and for forming the groove with prescribed dimensions on the vitrified grinding wheel attached to the rotary side not grooved.
