PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal that are capable of curbing the total communication time for completion of file transfer to the smallest possible length, and to provide a communication control method. SOLUTION: The communication terminal (PHS200) includes: a file transfer portion 220; a total amount obtaining portion 204; a remaining amount calculation portion 206; a transfer speed calculation portion 208; a first determination portion 210 that determines whether there is a line the transfer speed of which is equal to or lower than a predetermined value; a reconnection time calculation portion 212 that calculates the time needed for transfer of remaining data if reconnected; a connection maintaining time calculation portion 214 that calculates the time needed for transfer of the remaining data if a connection is maintained; and a transfer time comparison determination portion 216.
