<p>The present invention relates to a cutting insert (3) for chip removing machining, the cutting insert (3) comprising an elongate centre part (7), cutting edges (5A, 5B) being arranged at the opposite ends of the centre part (7), the cutting insert (3) being provided with engagement members(10) along two longitudinal, opposite sides, the cutting edges (5A, 5B) forming, in an end view of the cutting insert (3),a mutual angle(a). The invention also relates to a tool, which comprises a cutting insert according to the present invention. Characteristic of the cutting insert according to the present invention is that the rake faces (9A or 9B) associated with the respective cutting edge (5A or 5B) are facing the opposite direction in the vertical direction (H)of the cutting insert (3), and that the mutual angle (a) is in the interval of 10°< a < 20°, in that a distance (H1) is measured between the intersection of the cutting edge (5A, 5B) with a centre line (C1- C1) of the cutting insert (3) and the outer most portion of the lower engagement member (10) and in that in an end view of the cutting insert (3),the ratio between the distance (H1) and the height (H) of the cutting insert is the following: 0,5H = H1 = 0,7H, the distance (H1) and the height being measured along a centre line (C1- C1) of the cutting insert (3).</p> |
