MEMBRANE ELECTRODE STACK AND FUEL CELL INCLUDING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode stack allowing stable power generation in a wide range of operating conditions; and to provide a fuel cell including the electrode stack.

SOLUTION: The membrane electrode stack 48 includes an electrolyte membrane 10, an oxidation electrode 32 and a fuel electrode 34, wherein the oxidation electrode 32 includes an oxidation electrode catalyst layer 12 and an oxidation electrode diffusion body 36; and the fuel electrode 34 includes a fuel electrode catalyst layer 14 and a fuel electrode diffusion body 42. The oxidation electrode diffusion body 36 includes an oxidation electrode porous layer 38 and an oxidation electrode impregnation layer 40 in order from the side of the oxidation electrode catalyst layer 12; the fuel electrode diffusion body 42 includes a fuel electrode porous layer 44 and a fuel electrode impregnation layer 46 in order from the side of the fuel electrode catalyst layer 14; and the thickness y of the fuel electrode porous layer 44 is smaller than the thickness x of the oxidation electrode porous layer 38.
