PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To nearly minimize as a whole time-lag amounts between light flux emission timings in plurality of image carriers. SOLUTION: A time-lag amount between emission timings of a first and second light sources to emit a light flux to a fist image carrier, and a time-lag amount between emission timings of a third and fourth light sources to emit a light flux to a second image carrier, are obtained. A difference between the minimum unit and an time-lag amount when an emission timing is corrected for each light source, or the time-lag amount itself, is made to be a delay correction amount for delaying the emission timing. A difference between the delay correction amount and the minimum unit is made to be an advance correction amount for advancing the projection timing. Out of combinations of the delay and advance correction amounts to be used for correcting the emission timing for each light source, the combination where a difference between the earliest and latest emission timings become the smallest is selected, and the emission timing in each light source is corrected thereby.
