PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel capable of attaining high luminance as well as high contrast. SOLUTION: The plasma display panel (PDP) 100 has a sub wavelength structure layer 125 selectively reflecting light of a light-emitting wavelength range of a phosphor layer 122 between a partition 121 and the phosphor layer 122 and between a cell bottom face facing a discharge cell 130 of a back plate 120 and the phosphor layer 122. High luminance can be achieved so that an emitted luminous flux from the phosphor layer 122 is emitted at a front surface plate 110 side by efficiently reflecting the emitted luminous flux by the sub wavelength structure layer 125, and high contrast can be achieved also so that reflection of light components excluding a light-emitting wavelength of the phosphor layer 122 among spectrum components of outdoor daylight is restrained.
