摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quality organic EL device having a functional material film of a uniform thickness and showing no display irregularity, and a method for manufacturing the organic EL device. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the organic EL device includes a step of forming a first partition portion 10 encircling the periphery of a first electrode on a substrate, a step of forming a second partition portion 50 separated from the first partition portion 10, encircling the first partition portion 10, and a step of determining a portion surrounded by the sidewall of the first partition portion 10 and by the bottom face of an area surrounded by the first partition portion 10 to be an effective reception portion 100A and placing a functional liquid containing a material for forming an organic functional layer 70 in the effective reception portion 100A to form the organic functional layer 70. A portion surrounded by the sidewalls of the first partition portion 10 and the second partition portion 50, both sidewalls facing each other and by the bottom face of an area between both sidewalls is determined to be a buffer reception portion 200. At the step of forming the organic functional layer 70, the functional liquid volume is equal to or greater than a volume in which the functional liquid spills out of the effective reception portion 100A and that is less than a volume equivalent to the sum of the capacity of the effective reception portion 100A and the capacity of the buffer reception portion 200.
