PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical and economical process for the production of ethanol, while suppressing the energy cost. SOLUTION: The method for producing an ethanol raw material from a lignocellulosic biomass comprises a step of coarsely crushing a raw material containing lignocellulose, a step of finely crushing the roughly crushed material produced by the roughly crushing step, and a dehydration step for dehydrating finely crushed material, produced by the finely crushing step.
