PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device of a vehicle equipped with a slide door which can not only secure convenience in getting in a car but also protect a passenger's privacy effectively. SOLUTION: The vehicle provided with the slide door 20 opening/closing an entrance Hs formed at the side portion of a vehicle compartment, a seat 12 provided near the entrance Hs, and an ingress-action detecting means 83 detecting an action of ingress of the passenger through the entrance Hs, includes an illumination device which is provided with lower illuminators E1 to E5 and E8 with illumination directions limited in order to be directed to lower areas S1 to S5 and S8 located below a beltline Lb of the vehicle such that a passenger's upper body is not illuminated, vehicle-inside upper illuminators E6, E7 illuminating an upper-specified area S6 in the vehicle compartment located above the beltline Lb, and an illumination controller 80 controlling lighting of the illuminators E1 to E8. When the ingress action is detected by the ingress-action detecting means 83, the illumination controller 80 prohibits illumination by the vehicle-inside upper illuminators E6, E7 and starts illumination by the lower illuminators E1 to E5 and E8.
