An automatic monitoring system and a method for a roadbed of a rail are provided to prevent an accident due to abnormality of a rail by detecting the condition of a rail bed. A plurality of ground devices(100a,100b,100c) are installed along the rail to detect and transmit the condition of the rail bed. Each ground unit includes a displacement detector(120), a landline part(140), a ground controller(130), and a power supply unit(150). The displacement detector detects the displacement of the rail bed, and the landline part performs communications with the on board unit. The ground controller is connected between the displacement detector and landline part. The on board unit(200) is installed in the train and monitors the condition of the rail bed based on received data from the ground unit. |
