A video processing apparatus and a control method thereof are provided. The video processing apparatus (200) includes: a signal receiving unit (240) which receives a signal from an external video processing apparatus (100); a video processing unit (220) which processes the signal received by the signal receiving unit (240) ; and a controller (250) which supplies or cuts off electric power to the video processing unit (220) according to whether the signal is received by the signal receiving unit (240) .
