#CMT# #/CMT# The method involves supplying a high pressure accumulator (17) with fuel by a high-pressure pump (14). A run-out of an internal-combustion engine (19) takes place on a stoppage requirement, and exhaust valves (18) of the high pressure accumulator remain closed until an idle condition of the internal-combustion engine. The high-pressure pump is continuously operated after the stoppage requirement. The high-pressure pump is mechanically driven by the internal-combustion engine.
