摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fusion protein useful in obtaining in a genetically engineering way an enzyme substantially having no N-galactosamine transferase activity but having glucuronic acid transferase activity among enzymes involved in the synthesis of chondroitin skeleton, to provide a vector for obtaining such a fused protein, and to provide a transformant obtained by introducing the vector into a host cell. <P>SOLUTION: The fusion protein is such one that a discriminant peptide and a polypeptide are fused together, wherein the polypeptide is constituted of an amino acid sequence described in the sequence No.4 (See the Specification) or an amino acid sequence where at least one constituent amino acid is substituted, deleted, inserted or translocated in the said amino acid sequence. This fusion protein has the activity of transferring glucuronic acid onto the N-acetylgalactosamine residue on a nonreduced terminal present in a chondroitin fundamental skeleton.
