A pigment, with colour depending on the angle of observation, is obtd. by three dimensional crosslinking of oriented liquid crystal substance (I) with a chiral phase. The novelty is that crosslinking is carried out in the presence of colour-neutral cpd(s). (II) having at least 2 crosslinkable double bonds. Also claimed are: (i) a lacquer contg. the pigment; (ii) a vehicle lacquered with this lacquer; and (iii) a method of making the pigment.
