Method for the contactless determination of size of an object comprises scanning the object with a signal and utilizing the quality of the surface of the object. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Device for the contactless determination of size of an object comprising an emitter element (24) for emitting a signal to the object and a receiver element (26) for acquiring a signal reflected by the object; and (2) Computer program used for the above method. Preferred Features: The position and rotary angle of the object are determined. A signal produced by a microwave radar unit (10) is used as the scanning signal.
