The method involves adjusting parameter and/or characteristic diagram of an electronic stability program (2) of a vehicle depending on a rolling movement of the vehicle that is determined by a rolling characteristic diagram (4). The adjusted parameter and/or the characteristic diagram of an output parameter of the electronic stability program is controlled and/or regulated. The adjusted parameter and/or the characteristic diagram of the stability program is reset at a normal setting during opening of a door of the vehicle. The rolling movement of the vehicle is continuously detected. An independent claim is also included for a device for operating an electronic stability program of a vehicle.
