IPTV RECEIVER AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING CHANNEL MAP MANAGEMENT INFORMATION

An IPTV receiver and a method for providing channel map management information are provided to search and obtain an IPTV service efficiently and to update the information as to an IPTV service promptly and accurately. A network interface unit transmits and receives an IP packet. The IP network stack checks the destination of the received IP packet and classifies the IP packet according to a protocol. An SI decoder parses a provision information record which is included in the received IP packet, and calculates the position information of a master SI table that is included in the provision information record. Furthermore, the SI decoder parses a master SI table record included in the received IP packet and calculates the channel map management information included in the master SI table. An IFT operation controller(2050) controls the reception of the master SI table record based on the position information of the calculated master SI table.
