The object has a light detector (10) i.e. photodiode, arranged at the level of a dial (4). A luminous source (12) i.e. vertical laser microcavity, emits the infrared light beam (16) through a watch glass (2), where the light beam is partially reflected towards the light detector when the light beam is intercepted by the user's finger (D) on the glass. The light detector provides an electric signal to an electronic control circuit (18) for activating a watch function or a function not related to time, when the detector detects the light produced by the source and reflected by the finger.
