Electromagnetic back massager

An electromagnetic back massager comprises a plurality of massaging units containing permanent magnets 2 which are repelled by electromagnets 1 and a massage stick 4. The repulsion of the permanent magnet 2 causes the massage stick 4 to protrude from the back of a chair 9 into which the massager is fitted. The massage stick 4 is retained in the massaging unit by a stopper 3. The back massager may comprise eight individual massaging units positioned in two rows of eight for placement either side of the spine. A plurality of massaging units may be controlled by a computer programme which may control the sequence of individual massage sticks.
