In a process to manufacture a transparent ceramic window for an armoured fighting vehicle, ceramic grains whose primary grain size is less than 500 nm, preferably less than 300 nm, is repeatedly pressurised to a base density of less than ?40% o theoretical density. The ceramic material is then pre-sintered or sintered at high pressure or conventionally sintered of the cyclically pressed green body. The resulting theoretical density is less than or equal to 99.8 per cent. The ceramic granulate is formed by spray granulation, vortex granulation or particle coating and is combined with a pressing agent additive and/or a binding agent and/or a chemical slip agent. The last press cyclical stage takes place at less than the maximum pressure. |
