A capsule-type medical device placed inside a subject and acquiring information inside the subject. The capsule-type medical device has communication electrodes placed on the surface of the capsule-type medical device and capable of communications for outputting the information, which is acquired by the capsule-type medical device, to the outside, a determination section for determining, based on conditions between the communication electrodes, whether the communication electrodes are in a condition in which they can perform the communications, and a control section for stopping, based on the result of the determination by the determination section, operation of at least some sections of the capsule-type medical device when the communication electrodes are in a condition in which they cannot perform the communications.
