A virus treating module for a home network and a method thereof are provided to install the virus treating module in a home server or a home gateway, thereby quickly treating data received from an external network and a virus in the home network. A database(111) stores a virus diagnosis engine and a vaccine program. A virus treating module(110) for a home network periodically receives the virus diagnosis engine and the vaccine program from an external security update server(210). If virus-infected data is received from the outside of a home network, the virus treating module for the home network blocks an external terminal or a network address transmitting the data.
