APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR IMAGE FILTERING

A device and a method for filtering an image in a terminal are provided to filter the final image outputted in a display unit by using the filter in a GPU(Graphic Processing Unit) instead of a CPU. A filter calculating module(208) generates one filter by receiving an image for generating the filter, and calculating a Gaussian pyramid for the received image and a feature vector for the Gaussian pyramid. A frame buffer(212) stores the Gaussian pyramid and the feature vector of each filter. The feature vector is a parameter for respective images forming the Gaussian pyramid. The filter calculating module is included in a GPU(206).
