Said sensor comprises at least one electrical component (46) for converting electric power into sound waves and/or electromagnetic fields, particularly optical radiation, in order to examine the value document (12) and/or detect sound waves and/or magnetic or electromagnetic fields, particularly optical radiation, of the value document (12) so as to form detection signals, and a component (46) holder which is provided with a recess (124) or a hole (60) for receiving at least part of the component (46), the electrical component (46) being retained in said recess (124) or hole (60).
