PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera which can start photographing action immediately after the power is turned on. SOLUTION: Management information necessary for read/write of a removable memory is saved/restored in response to turning off/on of the power of a camera. As a consequence, it becomes unnecessary to newly construct the management information in turning on the power, enabling to start the photographing action immediately. In addition, whether the saved management information is usable or not may be decided by monitoring replacement of the removable memory. Furthermore, at the time point when the saved management information is decided to be unusable, reconstruction of the management information may be started despite the power is being off by an operator.
