The device (1) has a single piece, and a laminar carrier medium (2) i.e. foil, that is made of solid matter, where the medium has a pair of facing main sides (3a). A semiconductor element (5) emits electromagnetic radiation to a portion in a wavelength range, in which the medium is transparent. The element is embedded in the medium such that the radiation is essentially emitted along a main extension direction of the medium. The element is embedded in the medium such that an area between the element and the medium is filled with gas, where the medium is made of thermoplastic material or glass. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a lighting device. |
