A center channel positioning device which does not cause strange feeling in sound quality even at a position remote from an original listener position. A sound signal processing section (40) varies at least one phase of a left sound signal (CL) for center channel positioning and a right sound signal (CR) for center channel positioning based on the processing coefficients so that a sound based on a center channel sound signal (C) is output from a left speaker (46) and a right speaker (52). The processing coefficients are calculated based on the level difference between both ears when the left sound signal (CL) for center channel positioning to the left speaker (46) and the right sound signal (CR) for center channel positioning to the right speaker (52) are reproduced simultaneously.
