Provided are countermeasures against nonuniformity of film thickness due to narrowing of a light emitting region, increase of a leak current or peeling of a functional layer at a peripheral section which are caused by nonuniformity of film thickness of the functional layer at a peripheral section of a pixel. An electronic device is provided with a substrate, a conductive functional layer formed on the substrate, and an end section covering layer which covers an end portion of the functional layer. The functional layer has a functional region which is not covered with the end section covering layer. The functional layer may be further provided with a nonfunctional region which is made nonfunctional by being covered with the end section covering layer. The end section covering layer may be bonded to the substrate by an adhesive force stronger than that between the substrate and the functional layer.
