PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record a video signal corresponding to a display image without raising prices of a transmitter and a display device for the video signal.

SOLUTION: The video and sound data (non-compressed video and sound signals) of prescribed video contents are transmitted by a TMDS channel from a set top box 310 to a television receiver 250, and the prescribed video contents are viewed in the television receiver 250. In the state, when a recording instructing operation is performed by a user, the streaming data (compressed video and sound data) of the prescribed video contents are transmitted from the set top box 310 through the television receiver 250 to a disk recorder 210 using a high-speed data line (bi-directional communication path) and recorded. Even when the set top box 310 and the television receiver 250 are not provided with a recording part, the video contents which are being viewed can be recorded.
