PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire a successful read image in a reading system which performs a preview scan and a main scan. SOLUTION: When it is determined that a binding margin exists by the preview scan when origial-reading an original having the binding margin such as a book, warning display is performed to a user before the main scan.
