PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a projection device using a reflection type modulation element. SOLUTION: The projection device is equipped with the reflection type modulation element 13 which modulates light from a light source 10, a first optical system 12 which guides the light from the light source 10 to the reflection type modulation element 13 and guides the modulated light by the reflection type modulation element 13 to a projection optical system 14, and a second optical system 12 which deflects luminous flux incident on the outer periphery part of the reflection type modulation element 13 in a direction where it approaches to an optical axis, while it deflects luminous flux incident on other areas excepting the outer periphery part in parallel with the optical axis.
