The brake unit has an electro-pneumatic brake pressure regulator (1) for delivering a fluid with pre-regulation pressure to a solenoid valve (5) connected down stream according to the weight of a vehicle. A pre-pressure storage facility (7) is filled up with the fluid of the pre-regulation pressure that acts on a pneumatic brake cylinder (6). The brake pressure regulator regulates and/or controls emergency brake pre-control pressure in an additional emergency brake pressure storage facility (8) to control the solenoid valve when an emergency brake is applied.
