A test container used in a test method having a step for immersing one en d (54) of a test piece (5) into specimen liquid. The test container comprise s a container main body (1) having an opening (11) at the upper end and a sp ace (17) communicating with the opening (11) and storing the specimen liquid , and a lid (2) for hermetically covering the opening (11) of the container main body (1) removably. The lid (2) is provided with a test piece fixing po rtion (33) for holding the test piece (5) in the storage space (17) under su ch a state as the other end of the test piece (5) is secured removably and t he opening (11) of the container main body (1) is hermetically covered by th e lid (2).
