PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for manufacturing a field coil that simultaneously performs R-shaping of two poles of a continuous coil 4 in edgewise winding of a rectangular wire of the R-shaping of the continuous coil 4 without damaging a film, which has high productivity and reliability, whose processes are easy and whose size is small. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes a pair of coil shaping parts 2 having arc-like recesses 10 on an external side shaped in an arc shape in the continuous coil 4, a die 3 consisting of a connection pin 8 connecting centers of the coil shaping parts 2 and a shaping part holder 9 for supporting the connection pin 8 so that it can move and a punch 5 having an arc-like protrusion 21 on an internal side shaped in the arc shape in the continuous coil 4. In the die 3, the connection pin 8 moves to a descending direction of the punch 5 in accordance with descent of the punch 5, and the coil shaping part 2 is bent to a centripetal direction of the punch 5 with the connection pin 8 as a center. Thus, the connection coil 4 is sequentially bent from a non-work part, and a worked part is press-formed and is R-shaped into the arc shape. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
