PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading unit with a function to efficiently absorb electromagnetic waves. SOLUTION: An electromagnetic wave absorbing sheet 12 is arranged on a scanner table plate 1. A CCD substrate 4, a CCD unit 2 and a CCD lens 3 are arranged on it. A sheet metal (housing) 10 surrounding the CCD substrate 4, the CCD unit 2 and the CCD lens 3 is attached to the scanner table plate 1. The sheet metal 10 is hemispheric (domical). Electromagnetic noise which is radially generated from the CCD substrate 4 is reflected at the sheet metal 10 and then is absorbed by the electromagnetic wave absorbing sheet 12. The curvature of the sheet metal 10 is so adjusted that the electromagnetic waves reflected at its curved surface are converged on one point (point A) of the electromagnetic wave absorbing sheet 12. In this manner, electromagnetic wave noise can be converged around the CCD lens 3. Also, dew condensation on the CCD lens 3 is prevented by using the heat generated from the electromagnetic wave absorbing sheet 12. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
