PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector capable of connecting fibers without needing an adhesive, improving workability by making it possible to connect fibers easily without requiring particular skill, and reconnecting fibers without entailing disposal of fibers. SOLUTION: The optical connector 10 includes an interspace part which incorporates a short fiber 1 of which end face is polished, on its one end face, and into which the other fiber 2 with one end face can be inserted so as to face the other end face of the short fiber 1, and a housing 11 having a first opening 24 where the other end face of the incorporated short fiber 1 is exposed, and a second opening 26 where a coated part 4 of the other fiber 2 is exposed. The optical connector 10 also includes pressing members 12 and 13 that are inserted into the first opening 24 and the second opening 26, respectively and fixing members 14 and 15 that are engaged with the housing 11 and can fix the other fiber 2 coaxially with the short fiber 1 through the pressing members 12 and 13, respectively.
