PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a projection type image display suppressing occurrence of scintillation and automatically preventing damage caused by vibration and shock or the like in transit with simple structure. SOLUTION: The projection type image display device 80 includes: an elastic holding unit 30 for holding a member to be driven so that a Fresnel lens 23 constituting a screen or a diffusion member constituting a screen is set movably on a plane parallel with the screen; a driving unit 55 for imparting driving force to the elastic holding unit and moving the member to be driven on the plane parallel with the screen; and a housing 70 for housing them. When constituting the display 80, the elastic holding unit 30 is always energized by elastic force so as to come into contact with one side of a housing frame 71, thereby suppressing movement of the display when the display is not operated.
