A washing machine which can perform a washing process while simultaneously purifying water used in the washing process. The washing machine has, as a water circulation path for circulating water held in a washing water tank (3), a first water circulation path (55), a second water circulation path (57), a U-turn section (26), and a third water circulation path (59). A venturi tube (58) is connected between the U-turn section (26) and the third water circulation path (59). Purifying air which contains ozone is supplied to the venturi tube (58) via an air tube (61). Water circulating in the water circulation paths is led by the second water circulation path (57) to a position higher than the level (72) of water held in an outer tank (4) and swiftly flows, above the level (72), from above to below in the venture tube (58). At the venture tube (58), the purifying air supplied from the air tube (61) is efficiently taken into circulating water to effectively purify the water.
