<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator having high shut down responsiveness in overheat and reducing shrink in overheat without damaging ion permeability; and to provide a battery using the separator and having high safety in overheat. <P>SOLUTION: In a separator 4 comprising a porous substrate layer 4A having a shutdown function made of a polyolefin resin for example and a porous heat resistant resin layer 4B made of an aramid resin for example, the chlorine content contained in the whole separator is limited to 500-5000 ppm in a mass basis. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
