PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a good high-resolution image from a plurality of low-resolution images. SOLUTION: A plurality of low-resolution images are obtained from an output signal of an image sensor by performing thinning readout using a plurality of thinning patterns with different pixels to be thinned. Alternatively a plurality of low-resolution images are obtained from an output signal of an image sensor by performing summation readout (pixel summation readout) using a plurality of summation patterns with different pixels to be summed. Thereafter, the amount of movement among the plurality of low-resolution images is detected, and a high-resolution image is created by performing super-resolution processing on the plurality of low-resolution images based on the detected amount of movement.
