PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform communications of image data more efficiently than before. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 2 includes a hard disc 20d for storing image data, an operation panel 20f for making a user input explanation of the image data, a section 201 for receiving the input explanation, a new data notification mail transmitting section 203 for transmitting a message indicating a fact that the received explanation and image data are stored to a recipient, an e-mail receiving section 204 for receiving a request of image data from the recipient in response to the message, and an image data attachment mail transmitting section 206 for transmitting image data GD concerning the request stored in the hard disc 20d when the request from the recipient is received at the e-mail receiving section 204.
