This invention provides a transparent electroconductive film, which can simultaneously realize a high level of resistance to an environmental variation and a high level of light transmittance, and a process for producing the transparent electroconductive film. The transparent electroconductive film comprises one or more transparent electroconductive oxide layers provided on a transparent substrate, and a plurality of hydrogen-containing carbon layers provided on the transparent electroconductive oxide layer. At least one layer in the one or more transparent electroconductive oxide layers may contain zinc oxide, and the hydrogen-containing carbon layer may have a multilayer structure in which at least one layer constituting the hydrogen-containing carbon layer has a refractive index of 1.25 to 1.85. A more preferred transparent electroconductive film satisfies a relationship of T1/T0 = 1.02 for light with a wavelength of 550 nm where T0 represents the light transmittance of a transparent substrate on which one or more transparent electroconductive oxide layers have been deposited; and T1 represents the light transmittance of a transparent substrate on which the one or more transparent electroconductive oxide layers and the plurality of hydrogen-containing carbon layers have been deposited.
