EXTERIOR WINDOW SHUTTERS

The present invention relates to solid panel window shutters (2) having both high strength and structural stability. More particuarly, an exterior window shutter (2) made of a solid panel of polyvinyl chloride with at least one support member (52, 54) affixed in the panel (2). The shutter (2) includes a solid panel (2) having front (3) and back (4) surfaces and side edges (5, 6, 7, 8), support member (52,54) impact resistant member and slats (9, 10) having a channel (22, 24, 26, 28 30) to receive the support member (52,54); wherein the support member (52,54) is embedded between the panel (2) and slats (9, 10). Also contemplated by this invention are: a method to manufacture high strength and structurally stable exterior window shutters (2) and a method to protect windows (325) from extreme weather.
